Why Purify?

Assessments are a reality of life. We are constantly assessing and reassessing everything. How we live, where we live, what we eat, why we eat it, what we wear, where we shop. The list goes on...
The other day, as I was driving through a very picturesque neighborhood, something forced me to stop and make an assessment.

Traffic on the road was light that day. Suddenly traffic came to a halt in both directions.  After my initial bout of road rage at the utter inconvenience (Another blog for another day), I realized there was a deer in the road. The deer was just standing in the middle of the road looking backward and forward. It appeared as though it was assessing the situation; trying to decide whether to forge ahead, or go back to familiar territory.

The deer decided to forge ahead. As it moved forward, five other deer followed peacefully behind it. Absolutely blown away, I began to look at my life through the eyes of that deer. I was at a crossroad; do I forge ahead into unknown and potentially painful territory, or do I turn around and go back into a familiar situation and pattern of living. The Holy Spirit said "Forge ahead daughter. Better for you is ahead not behind. If you've properly assessed the situation, others will follow you in peace."

Thus was born Purify Ministries. This is a walk we will take together. Finding strategies to conquer our fears, frustrations and the negative stress that weighs us down and wears us out. We will purify and renew our spirits through prayer, praise, encouragement and faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Matthew 11:28-30 (Message) reads: "Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me - watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly."

Let's walk together with Jesus.

  1. What a powerful illustration of the deer "forging ahead!" I also really like the Message rendition of Matt 11:28-30. Very clear and so full of peace and truth. Thank you! I look forward with "tip toe anticipation" to the next blog!

  2. Thanks Kathy for sharing. Excellent analogy, there is always one deer that leads, and the others follow. Leading others to food, water or safety. We have to be the leadership for others to share hope, to see all of what God's Kingdom is all about. I loved, loved the Message translation.Looking forward to your next blog! God Bless!
